SECOND FACTOR = DOUBLE PROTECTION
🛡️ MFA
It's the very same!
Two-factor / two-step / multifactor authentication.
Essentially, it is always the same thing: adding another verification element to the password to increase security.
LONG STORY
SHORT
1. Second faktor = greater security 💻+📱
Adding a second factor to your password reduces the chance that an attacker will be able to misuse your login details even if they are leaked.
2. Those extra 10 seconds won't kill ya' ⏳
Sure, the second factor is a pain. Mainly because it slows you down. But those few extra seconds are really worth it.
3. Not all factors are equal 🔐
There are several options for second factors. A code from an SMS or app (e.g., Google Authenticator) is the basic option, but if you can, opt for a security key. You can store it directly in Bitwarden. If you want to know more, check this.
4. You don't want to help an attacker 🏴☠️
But if an attacker gains access to your IS account, they can do a lot of damage. They could even send scams and phishing emails to others in your name — and suddenly you'll be their front man.
5. Bank, IS and e-mail 💰
Na ně nezapomeň! It's worth turning on multi-factor authentication elsewhere too. You probably already have electronic banking ✅. Activation in IS takes a few minutes, and then there's your personal email and social media profiles. Don't forget them!
